Nursing Pacific

The Graduate Diploma in Nursing Pacific is designed for Pacific trained nurses aiming to complete their qualifications and register with the Nursing Council of New Zealand. This full-time program spans 18 months and integrates knowledge of Pacific communities with nursing practices to enhance health outcomes for Pacific peoples and the broader New Zealand community.

Students will engage in a mix of theoretical learning and practical experience, including classroom sessions, online learning, and clinical placements. The curriculum emphasizes cultural understanding and professional identity, preparing students to think and act like nurses. Clinical experience is a key component, requiring a minimum of 895 hours in various healthcare settings.

Graduates can work as registered nurses in diverse environments, including hospitals, community health services, and mental health facilities. Common job titles include Staff Nurse, Community Health Nurse, and Mental Health Nurse. The skills acquired are transferable across various health sectors, providing a solid foundation for further specialization or international opportunities.
