The 10-credit module "Pathophysiology and Fundamental Physical Assessment Skills" introduces students to the scientific basis of disease, linking it to head-to-toe assessment techniques taught during on-site simulated patient workshops.

Graduates move into roles across acute hospitals, community health teams and specialist nursing services, contributing to patient safety, chronic disease management and health promotion. Employers include public and private health providers where nurses apply their knowledge of risk assessment, diagnostic reasoning and interdisciplinary care.

The programme runs part-time over one blended year, split into two semesters that combine mandatory modules on contemporary Irish nursing issues, patient safety and chronic disease prevention with practical assessment skills.
