About Master in Organic and Molecular Electronics (OME)

The Master's in Organic and Molecular Electronics (OME) at Dresden University of Technology is an interdisciplinary programme integrating physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, and materials science. It focuses on the development and application of organic electronics, a field with applications in displays, photovoltaics, lighting, and integrated smart systems. The programme is structured across 4 semesters and starts in the winter semester. The first semester covers foundational topics including semiconductor technology, organic semiconductors, molecular modelling concepts, and basics in chemistry, semiconductor physics, and circuit technology. The second semester builds on these foundations with optoelectronics, printing technology, and specialised major and minor courses in either Physics or Electronics, and Chemistry or Nanotechnology. The third semester covers molecular electronics, physical characterisation of organic thin films, materials for nanoelectronics, and a Project Work module — which may take the form of an internship or independent research within the programme. The fourth semester is devoted to the Master's thesis and defence. At least one elective course is also required throughout the programme. The programme maintains close collaboration with industry partners and has a low student-teacher ratio. Graduates are trained in the full development cycle from materials design to the final device. Dresden University of Technology offers this programme at its campus in Dresden, Germany.
