Each week you will spend time in the field and the workshop practising a range of adventure activities such as hillwalking, kayaking, rock climbing, surfing and mountain biking, while also attending laboratory sessions for earth-process studies and computer labs for information-technology skills. Small-group professional-skills workshops run alongside these practical sessions, giving you time to develop academic writing, presentation and digital-literacy abilities.

The programme runs for four years of full-time study. In the first year you undertake the core module Adventure Activities-Personal Skills (15 credits) together with Earth Processes (10 credits), an introductory IT module (5 credits) and Academic and Professional Skills (5 credits). Subsequent years continue with the same core modules, adding Developing the Professional Practitioner in Outdoor Education (5 credits) and optional electives as you progress.

Graduates move into roles such as outdoor-education instructors, adventure-tourism guides, environmental-education officers, park rangers or continue to postgraduate study in related fields.
