Part-Time Program for the Ministry

The Part-Time Program for the Ministry at Augustana Theological Seminary is designed for individuals aged 26 to 49 who wish to pursue a career in ministry while balancing other commitments. This three-year program combines digital lectures, in-person block seminars, and guided self-study, making it ideal for those who thrive in flexible learning environments. Graduates will be eligible for the vicarage in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria, equating their qualifications with those of traditional ministry pathways.

The curriculum includes modules in classical theological subjects, with a focus on acquiring foundational knowledge in Hebrew and Greek. Students will engage in various assessments, including oral exams, written assignments, and presentations. Additionally, the program features two in-person block seminars each semester and a four-week practical internship, ensuring that students gain both theoretical and practical experience in ministry.

Graduates of this program can pursue various roles within the church, such as Pastor, Church Administrator, or Youth Minister. They may find employment in local congregations, church organizations, or educational institutions. The skills developed during the program are transferable to other fields, allowing graduates to adapt to various career paths within community service and leadership.
