About the Program

Tackle complex global challenges through advanced research in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UNLV. This doctoral programme is built for students who aspire to become leaders in industry or academia, offering deep specialisation across a diverse spectrum of fields, including Communications, Control System Theory, Digital Design and Computer Systems, Electromagnetics and Optics, Electronics, Intelligent Systems and Robotics, Photonics and Quantum Engineering, Power Systems, Signal Processing, and Solid State Electronics.

Flexible Entry Pathways

The curriculum is designed to accommodate different academic backgrounds through three distinct tracks:

  • Post-Master’s Track: For those who have already completed an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • Post-Bachelor’s Track: An option for high-achieving undergraduate students to enter the Ph.D. programme directly.
  • Integrated BS-PHD Track: A streamlined route for exceptional students to move from their B.S. degree into doctoral research, bypassing the traditional Master’s thesis requirement while maintaining the rigorous academic standards of the doctoral degree.

Students benefit from a research-intensive environment where they work alongside accomplished faculty to generate novel knowledge, culminating in a dissertation that addresses contemporary engineering problems.

This program's tuition is 15% below the typical PhD in the United States.
