Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST) is a science-oriented national key university founded in 1953 and administered by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Located in the Xuanwu District of Nanjing, the campus sits near Zijin Mountain and the Ming Dynasty City Wall, offering a historic and green setting. With around 30,000 students, including roughly 800 international students, NJUST is part of China’s Double First Class initiative and emphasizes engineering, materials, electronic and information disciplines.

The university comprises multiple schools spanning mechanical, chemical, electronic and information engineering, automation, economics and management, and humanities. NJUST hosts extensive research infrastructure: numerous national and provincial key disciplines, a national key laboratory, engineering centers, and well-equipped teaching labs. The library and sports facilities support student life, and the international student building provides furnished two-bedroom units with private bathrooms, air-conditioning, balconies, study areas and communal kitchens—practical amenities for overseas students. NJUST offers a broad portfolio of programs across undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels, with more than 120 academic programs and active collaboration with industry.

International students benefit from an applied, research-driven environment and connections to regional engineering and high-tech sectors in Nanjing. Student services include orientation, language support and career guidance that help graduates pursue further study or industry roles. Prospective international applicants should highlight technical preparation and research interests, and consider programs aligned with NJUST’s strengths in engineering, materials and information technology when preparing applications and funding plans.
