About Psychiatric Nursing

Tuition is Year 1: $10,820; Year 2: $10,380; Year 3: $3,650; totals include mandatory fees, books, and supplies., and the application deadline is December 31.

Each week you will attend face-to-face simulated labs, complete virtual lectures and undertake clinical practice placements. In year 1 you attend mandatory labs and two practice blocks (≈225 hours). Year 2 adds further labs, three practice blocks (≈495 hours) and a placement at a satellite site such as Moose Jaw or Saskatoon. In the final four-month term you spend about 375 hours with a preceptor, sharpening skills and exploring an area of interest.

On graduation you receive an advanced diploma, meet the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Saskatchewan standards and can sit the Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Canada Examination. Successful candidates become licensed RPNs and work in hospitals, long-term care, correctional facilities, community mental-health agencies or home-care. The credential also provides pathways to bachelor programmes.
