Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf

Bachelor in Quantitative Biology

Düsseldorf, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The Bachelor in Quantitative Biology at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is an international programme offered jointly with the University of Cologne. It integrates biological study and laboratory practice with mathematical modelling, data science, and bioinformatics, and is structured around the needs of modern biological and medical research. Rather than dividing the first two years into traditional subject areas such as botany or zoology, the programme builds from shared biological principles. Students acquire experimental, mathematical, statistical, and computational methods embedded in biological contexts, with nearly all modules including practical courses or exercises. From semester four, students can opt into the four-year variant, quantBio+, which provides additional time for study abroad and intensive research experience in academia or industry. The programme spans six semesters in the standard variant and eight semesters in the quantBio+ variant, starting in the winter semester. It is based at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf, Germany.
