This programme is for students from all backgrounds who want to study religion as a part of human culture and history. It is open to those with secular or religious perspectives. Students explore how religion shapes values, identity, and action across time and place. The programme prepares you to think critically about the role of religion in society and global issues.

You study religious traditions from around the world through three streams: Eastern traditions like Hinduism and Buddhism, Western traditions like Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and religion in culture. Courses examine texts, practices, and ideas using history, philosophy, literature, and cultural studies. You take introductory courses and then move to upper-year courses on topics like ethics, gender, ecology, and popular culture.

The programme offers a major (60 credits), honours (72 credits), or minor (24 credits). You complete a capstone experience through research, a thesis, or a practicum. Field trips, internships, and mentorship are part of the learning. Graduates pursue careers in law, education, community development, human rights, and international affairs.
