Master in Social Dutch

The application deadline for Master in Social Dutch is Aug 31, 2027, while tuition comes to 280 EUR per year.

International professionals looking to bridge the gap between their work life and the Dutch social environment will find this course an essential tool for integration. Designed for those who wish to move beyond professional jargon and engage in the informal, everyday conversations known in Dutch as 'koetjes en kalfjes', this programme focuses on building the confidence needed to navigate social interactions in the Netherlands.

The curriculum moves away from traditional textbook learning, instead prioritising the practical skills required for daily life. Participants will explore Dutch customs, social norms, and cultural values in a playful and interactive setting. You will gain the ability to:

• Confidently initiate small talk in various settings, from the water cooler to social gatherings.
• Handle everyday scenarios such as asking for directions, shopping for groceries, and discussing hobbies, sports, or the weekend.
• Better understand the cultural nuances behind Dutch email correspondence and casual workplace interaction.

By focusing on listening and speaking, the course ensures that learners can immediately apply their new vocabulary to real-life situations, fostering a more 'gezellig' (convivial) connection with Dutch colleagues and neighbours.
