Software Engineering focuses on the systematic design, development, testing, and maintenance of software systems, covering programming, software architecture, databases, and project management methodologies. Students typically start with foundational programming and data structures courses before progressing to software design principles, algorithms, and software development lifecycle practices. This bachelor program is offered by Istanbul Esenyurt University in İstanbul, Turkey, taught in English over 4 years. The curriculum generally combines programming coursework with project-based learning, where students build software applications individually and in teams, applying practices such as version control and testing throughout the development process. Students develop skills across multiple programming languages and paradigms, along with an understanding of databases, web and mobile development, and software quality assurance. Coursework often includes team-based capstone projects that simulate real software development environments, requiring collaboration, requirements analysis, and iterative development similar to industry practice. Assessment typically blends written exams on algorithms and theory with graded software deliverables, so students are evaluated on both conceptual understanding and working code. Based in İstanbul, the program is positioned within a growing technology sector, offering relevant context for coursework and potential internship connections. Graduates of software engineering programs typically pursue roles as software developers, systems analysts, or quality assurance engineers, or continue into graduate study in computer science or software engineering.
