The Space Exploration Engineering Program at KAIST prepares students to design and operate the spacecraft and systems used in space missions. The discipline draws on aerospace engineering, orbital mechanics, propulsion systems, and mission design, covering how spacecraft are built to withstand the conditions of space, how missions are planned and navigated, and how systems on board are tested and operated. Coursework typically combines theoretical study of orbital dynamics and propulsion with project-based work on spacecraft subsystems, mission planning, or satellite design. Graduates of programs in this field find roles in aerospace companies, satellite operators, and national and international space agencies, working on spacecraft design, mission planning, propulsion systems, or ground operations. Others move into the broader aerospace and defense industry, applying their training to aircraft systems, or continue into research roles developing new space exploration technologies. This master's program is hosted by KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) in Yuseong-gu, South Korea, and runs for two years, with instruction conducted in English. Students are admitted in the September and March intakes, apart from KAIST's MBA program, which has a separate February intake.
