Bachelor in Sport and Exercise

The programme offers two distinct award options – Performance and Wellbeing or Physical Education – allowing students to tailor their studies to either elite sport environments or classroom teaching. Graduates move into roles such as strength and conditioning coaches, sports development officers, or qualified secondary-school PE teachers, with some progressing to postgraduate research. Weekly, students work in sport-specific labs, conduct anatomy and physiology practicals, design and deliver exercise programmes, and, in the final year, complete placements in clubs or schools.

Over three years the BSc combines a scientific core with applied modules, covering fitness assessment, nutrition, sports psychology and pedagogical techniques. Assessment blends coursework, practical demonstrations and written examinations, and the Letterkenny campus provides modern sport facilities and teaching spaces to support hands-on learning.
