Sustainable Water Management and Engineering (MEng) trains a new generation of engineers to manage the growing complexity of water-related challenges driven by climate change and population growth. The programme combines key competencies in management and engineering, integrating sustainability, water risk management, water resource management, and digital solutions including the use of AI in technical and everyday engineering tasks. The curriculum is built on a hands-on, interdisciplinary concept that connects classical water technologies such as water treatment, sewage disposal, and water circulation with current topics in sustainability and digitisation. The three dimensions of sustainability (economic efficiency, social responsibility, and ecological compatibility) run through the programme. Teaching includes group projects at partner companies, study excursions to water management facilities and technology companies, and expert discussions from research and industry. The programme runs over 3 semesters with intake in the winter and summer semester. The first two semesters cover 10 mandatory modules plus one elective. The third semester is dedicated to an internship at a company or the university's Institute for Water and Energy Management and a practical Master's thesis.
