Te Reo Māori Intermediate

The Te Reo Māori Intermediate program is designed for individuals who have some foundational knowledge of the Māori language and wish to deepen their understanding. This part-time course spans 10 weeks and is offered at multiple UCOL campuses, including Palmerston North, Whanganui, Wairarapa, and Horowhenua. Ideal for students who are eager to engage with Māori customs and protocols, this program enhances conversational skills in Te Reo Māori.

Throughout the course, students will participate in two hours of class time each week, focusing on both traditional and contemporary aspects of Māori culture. The curriculum emphasizes practical language use, allowing students to develop their conversational abilities while exploring Māori customs. This hands-on approach prepares students for real-world interactions and fosters a deeper appreciation for the language.

Graduates of the Te Reo Māori Intermediate program can pursue further studies, such as the Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Reo Rua) program at UCOL. This pathway opens doors to various roles in education, community engagement, and cultural preservation. Potential job titles include Māori language tutor, cultural advisor, and community liaison officer, with opportunities in educational institutions, cultural organizations, and local government.
