Tertiary Foundation Certificate

The Tertiary Foundation Certificate (TFC) is a one-year program designed to prepare students for undergraduate studies at the University of Auckland. This program is ideal for those who want to build their academic skills and confidence before entering a degree program. TFC supports students from under-represented groups in tertiary education, providing a pathway to various undergraduate degrees in fields such as Arts, Business, Engineering, and Health Sciences.

Students in the TFC will complete eight papers, including core courses in Literacy and Mathematics, along with elective subjects tailored to their interests. The curriculum is structured to ensure that students gain the necessary skills to succeed in their future studies. Achieving a GPA of 7 or above in the first semester allows students to take an approved undergraduate course, which will count towards both the TFC and their future degree.

Upon successful completion of the TFC, students will receive a nationally recognized University Entrance qualification. Graduates can pursue various undergraduate degrees, including Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce, and Bachelor of Engineering. The skills acquired during the TFC are transferable, opening doors to numerous career pathways in diverse industries.
