Master in Transportation Economics

Transportation Economics at Dresden University of Technology is a research-grounded master's programme that equips students with quantitative scientific methods for analysing and solving transport-related problems. Students choose two of five offered specialisations: Computational Logistics, Transport Policy, Spatial and Environmental Economics, Statistics, and Data Analytics in Transportation. Each specialisation develops specific methodological expertise, from analytical methods for transport and logistics decisions to econometric analysis of policy measures, multivariate statistics, and data analytics applied to surveys and large datasets. The programme runs over four semesters in full-time study (or eight semesters part-time), beginning in the winter semester. The first semester establishes a shared methodological foundation across all five specialisation areas. The second semester deepens knowledge in the two chosen specialisations, supported by supplementary coursework. The third semester includes a research module and offers a mobility window for study abroad or a vocational internship, both counting toward the degree. The fourth semester is reserved for the master's thesis, which is completed within one of the chosen specialisations. Students may also choose to acquire foreign language skills or integrate other university modules to complement their technical studies.
