Applied Urban Expertise

The program emphasizes a hands-on approach to land development and policy analysis. Students engage deeply with real-world case studies, exploring the legal foundations of land-use planning and the legislative frameworks that govern sustainable development. A significant portion of the learning is experiential, featuring studio-based projects, field excursions, and insights from industry guest speakers. Participants gain proficiency in essential modern tools, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), while refining their ability to conduct environmental impact assessments and manage complex urban planning projects.

Graduates are well-positioned to contribute to the evolving landscape of city planning, with potential pathways toward the Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation through the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI).
