Students with a vocational degree can earn a bachelor's in engineering within the standard 3 years at UiA through the Y-veien programme.

This programme is tailored for those with a vocational degree, who can skip the general study competence requirement and one-year preparatory course. The first year requires significant effort with additional courses in mathematics, physics, and Norwegian, so students with a lower grade point average from upper secondary school are advised to complete a one-year preparatory course before applying to the programme.

Y-veien offers access to various engineering studies, including byggdesign, data, elektronikk, fornybar energi, and mekatronikk.
