Entry permit plus temporary residence permit for studies cost breakdown
Every line the Cyprus application puts on your card, in US dollars, as of September 2026.
Amounts are US dollars. Cyprus bills in its own currency, so the exact charge moves with the exchange rate. The native figures are in the notes column where the fee schedule publishes them.
Things to watch
- The bank guarantee for repatriation is a deposit held against the cost of removal, from you or from the institution, and it is returned rather than spent, so it is not in the total.
- Cyprus asks for money to be shown twice: a home-country bank certificate before the entry permit and a Cyprus bank certificate of the transferred funds before the residence permit, with no fixed figure for either.
- Euro figures convert at USD 1 = EUR 0.871, the ExchangeRate-API rate on 18 September 2026.
Cyprus student visa requirements and documents checklist
9 documents every applicant provides.
| Document | Who needs it | What it involves |
|---|---|---|
| An entry permit applied for by your university, not by you | everyone | A third-country national admitted to a full-time program at an institution registered with the Ministry of Education enters on an entry permit the Migration Department issues on the institution's application. The file cannot be opened while you are in Cyprus on a tourist visa. source |
| A passport covering the stay or at least two more years | everyone | The document list asks for a passport valid for the whole intended stay or for at least two years from the date the application goes in, whichever the file relies on. source |
| A bank certificate from home, with a statement, or a scholarship letter | everyone | Before you travel, a bank in your country of origin certifies that you can cover living, study and repatriation costs, and the certificate travels with a bank statement. A scholarship award from the body granting it does the same job. Cyprus publishes no fixed sum. source |
| A clean criminal record certificate | everyone | The original certificate comes from your country of origin, or from the country you live in if that is somewhere else. source |
| Medical tests twice: at home before you fly, in Cyprus after you land | everyone | The department wants original results for hepatitis B and C, HIV, syphilis and a chest X-ray for tuberculosis from your home country in the entry permit file, then the same tests again from a public or private hospital in Cyprus, stamped by a doctor, for the residence permit. source |
| A bank guarantee for repatriation, from you or your institution | everyone | The guarantee covers the cost of removing you from Cyprus if that ever became necessary. It is a deposit held against that risk rather than a fee, and the department accepts it from the student or from the higher education institution. source |
| Health insurance on Plan A after arrival | everyone | The residence permit file needs a certificate of health insurance covering inpatient and outpatient care and the transport of remains, the cover the department labels Plan A. source |
| A Cyprus bank certificate that the money arrived | everyone | Once in Cyprus you open an account and the bank certifies that you have transferred enough into it to cover living, study and repatriation costs for the intended stay. The same certificate is asked for again at every renewal. source |
| Full-time enrollment of at least 30 ECTS a semester | everyone | Student permits go only to full-time international students, which the ministry defines as registering for at least 15 credits or 30 ECTS in a semester. source |
