Professional relevance is at the heart of the Honours Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at Algoma University, a programme specifically engineered in collaboration with Ontario employers and advisory committees to address the acute, rising demand for qualified social workers across Canada. Operating across campuses in Sault Ste. Marie, Brampton, and Timmins, the curriculum bridges theoretical knowledge with the practical exigencies of modern social service delivery.

Graduates are well-prepared for diverse career pathways where they can make a tangible difference, including:

• Healthcare and mental health support services
• Child wellbeing and family advocacy
• Educational settings as school social workers
• Community-based outreach and social policy development
• Corrections and military support services
• Private practice, including counselling and therapeutic roles

The programme offers high flexibility for non-traditional learners, with distinct pathways for college graduates, existing university students, and those returning to education as mature students, often allowing for advanced standing and credit transfers to accelerate the degree timeline.
