Master in Agroecology

The application deadline for the Aug 2027 intake is Jan 15, 2027, while tuition fees for Master in Agroecology are 310,000 SEK for the whole program.

This Master's programme gives in-depth knowledge of the ecology of food production systems, covering how biological and social processes interact and influence the sustainability of farming and food systems. The programme uses case studies and field experience to explore land-use multifunctionality and interdisciplinary solutions to problems in the current food system.

The programme combines national (Sweden) and international perspectives, including farm and enterprise studies, internships and research in Sweden alongside case studies from Europe and the Global South. Students may study abroad or undertake internships with scholarship support from Erasmus+ or Minor Field Studies. SLU collaborates with NMBU, Aarhus University, the University of Helsinki, ISARA Lyon and Wageningen University, and participates in the Nordic Agroecology Education Network.

Graduates gain a Degree of Master of Science with a major in Agricultural Science, specialisation in agroecology, and can work in non-profit organisations, expert authorities, or companies working on sustainable food production, or continue to PhD study.
