    About the Program

American Studies at the University of Warsaw is a master's degree taught in English in Warszawa, Poland, lasting two years, with annual tuition of 3000.0 EUR. The programme is run by the American Studies Center, a cross-disciplinary department whose faculty research and teach aspects of United States culture, society, literature, art, film, media, history, economy, politics, law, and ideas. Faculty include both Polish and international scholars, among them three permanent professors from the US, with classes taught by resident and guest faculty. Graduates gain specialized knowledge of American society and culture and of the relationship between the US, Europe, and the wider world. The MA programme includes introductory lectures spanning the disciplines that make up the curriculum, along with a wide range of elective courses; students are encouraged to choose electives that support their own MA research projects. The programme also includes a writing proseminar, MA seminars, and other class types. It runs for two years, or four terms, with a weekday schedule offering classes from Monday through Thursday. Some students in the weekday programme do not pay tuition, an exemption based on entrance exam scores, though only Polish nationals and other EU nationals are eligible for it. American studies as a field draws together history, politics, literature, and cultural analysis to examine the United States and its global relationships, preparing graduates for careers in research, education, journalism, international relations, and cultural or policy work connected to transatlantic affairs. The programme's small-group, seminar-based structure is intended to give students close engagement with faculty across the two-year course of study.
