About Master in Anglistik.Html

One of the modules in this Master's in English Linguistics, American, and British Studies at the University of Saarland is the North American Literary and Cultural Studies. This programme is for graduates with a background in linguistics, literature, or cultural studies. After completing the programme, graduates have the ability to participate in the academic dialogue in and outside of Germany, develop programmes tailored to the needs of students and gain deep insights into American and British literature, and more. This academic competency, as well as cultural and professional skills, are particularly attractive to employers, such as international institutions, media companies, and cultural institutions.

Graduates gain the ability to work independently and competently within multiple linguistic, literary, and cultural contexts, and are trained in both quantitative and qualitative analysis of different types of texts, including films and digital media. The curriculum provides a comprehensive base of knowledge in English linguistics, literature, and culture, as well as a wealth of opportunities for international mobility, with a mandatory mobility phase of at least three months. Professor Dr. Cornelia Gerhardt is the programme coordinator, and she can be contacted at MasterEnglish(at)uni-saarland.de.

The curriculum includes a range of modules from British Literary and Cultural Studies, English Linguistics, and North American Literary and Cultural Studies. These modules cover a wide range of topics, from the study of contemporary literature to the analysis of cultural phenomena and the development of linguistic theories. The programme also includes a mandatory mobility phase, which allows students to gain international experience and develop their language skills. The mobility phase can be completed in the form of a research project, or as a study abroad programme.
