Master in Animal Science

The tuition fee is 2,800 EUR per year.

Animal science is the study of the biology, health, nutrition, and management of domesticated and farmed animals, drawing on genetics, physiology, nutrition science, and animal husbandry. Students in this field typically study animal breeding and genetics, nutrition and feeding systems, reproduction, and animal welfare, alongside broader topics related to livestock production systems and their environmental and economic dimensions. Coursework often combines classroom study with practical or laboratory work involving animal physiology, nutrition analysis, or farm management practices. This Animal Science program is offered at the master's level by Universita degli Studi di Torino, located in Torino, Italy, and is taught in English. The program runs for two years, consistent with the standard length for master's degrees in the European system, giving students time to build advanced knowledge across the various areas that make up animal science. Graduates of animal science programs pursue careers in livestock and farm management, animal nutrition and feed companies, breeding organizations, and veterinary or agricultural research institutions. Others move into roles with government agencies responsible for animal health and welfare regulation, or with companies involved in the broader food and agriculture supply chain. Some continue into further study, including doctoral research in animal science or a related field, working toward academic or advanced research careers. Because animal science connects biology with practical aspects of food production, graduates typically combine scientific understanding of animal biology with applied skills relevant to managing livestock systems, positioning them for roles across agricultural production, research, and policy that involve the health and productivity of farmed animals.
