Animal Science is a major within the Agricultural Sciences Master of Science degree at the University of Hohenheim, focused on sustainable breeding, husbandry, nutrition, and health of farm animals alongside the production of high-quality animal foodstuffs. Over 4 semesters beginning in either the Winter or Summer semester, the degree is structured in three phases: compulsory and compulsory elective modules that build technical and methodological foundations; a profile phase built from a targeted combination of elective modules and optional research or organisational internships; and a concluding Master's thesis. Students choose their own technical specialisation — areas such as nutrition and feed, genomics and breeding, or health and behaviour — enabling a focused professional profile. Graduates are well positioned for leadership roles in research, development, management, and marketing. Employers typically include biotechnology companies, agricultural operations, the food and feed industry, ministries, university and non-university research institutions, business consulting firms, and breeding and stable construction companies. An above-average grade opens the pathway to a doctoral programme. The programme is taught in English and is based at the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart.
