Biomedical science investigates how the human body functions in health and disease, exploring the biochemical, physiological and microbiological processes that underlie patient conditions.

The apprenticeship runs over three years. In Year 1 you build a theoretical and practical foundation covering biochemistry, microbiology, physiology, pharmacology and core laboratory skills. Year 2 develops analytical and critical abilities with modules on human physiology, metabolism, molecular biology and enhanced practical and research techniques. The final year delivers specialist modules, a research project and the completion of an IBMS registration portfolio.
