Master in Applied Biotechnology

Applied Biotechnology is a three-semester Master's programme at Ansbach University of Applied Sciences that combines technical expertise in biotechnology with practical skills in data analysis, research management, and quality management. Each semester carries 30 ECTS credits, and the curriculum covers bioprocess engineering and protein purification, cell biology, food production analytics, statistics, quality and research management, and bioeconomy and technology assessment. In the summer semester, students choose three elective courses from across the university's broader offerings — including business, engineering, and natural sciences — allowing them to tailor their studies to their interests. German language classes are also available as an elective. Starting in the Winter semester, the programme culminates in a Master's thesis in the third semester. The structure is fully on-site and instructor-led. Students can draw on the university's research laboratories and benefit from an international cohort. The programme prepares graduates for applied roles across the biotechnology and life sciences sectors, where the combination of laboratory expertise, analytical skills, and management competency is in demand.
