Master in Biotechnology

The Master's programme in Biotechnology at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg is an intensive, laboratory-based, research-oriented programme running either three or four semesters. The three-semester track starts in the summer semester and follows a Bachelor's of seven semesters; the four-semester track starts in the winter semester and follows a Bachelor's of six semesters. The programme is conducted on the campus in Senftenberg. Students choose one of four specialisations: Cell Biology, Microbiology, Bioanalytics, or Laboratory Diagnostics. A maximum of eight study places are offered in each specialisation. Teaching across all specialisations is in English, combining lectures, seminars, and laboratory courses. After completing the taught semesters, students undertake a five-month thesis project involving experimental work under faculty supervision, which may be carried out at an external research institute or company.
