Master in Applied Computer Science (MSc)

Applied Computer Science at SRH University Heidelberg is a four-semester Master of Science programme covering the full scope of modern software development, from architecture and security through to databases and advanced computer science methods. Students build competence across all layers of full-stack development — front end, middleware, back end, databases, and infrastructure — and then deepen their profile by selecting one of three specialisations: Business Computing, Mobile Computing, or Usability Engineering and UX Design. This combination is designed to produce graduates who can operate across generalist roles as well as targeted positions. Teaching follows SRH's CORE principle, which organises study into five-week intensive blocks centred on real-world business or research challenges worked through in small groups. Before the Master's thesis, students complete either a three-month internship at a company or research institution or an applied research project, which can be extended into the thesis itself. Intakes begin on 1 October and 1 April each year. Graduates from this programme have moved into positions at companies including ABB, Airbus, Accenture, Audi, Bosch, BMW, BASF, Deutsche Boerse, DKFZ, Triumph, PWC, SAP, and Verivox, as well as at smaller businesses. The degree also qualifies holders for public sector roles, research positions, and doctoral study. SRH University offers this programme at its Heidelberg campus, with additional locations in Munich and Stuttgart.
