About the Program

Applied Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at SRH University Heidelberg is a four-semester Master of Science programme that covers both the technical and the contextual dimensions of data science. Technical coursework addresses big data architectures, data and text mining algorithms, neural networks, and predictive analytics. Alongside those methods, the programme introduces students to creative questioning techniques, data visualisation, data storytelling, ethics, and international law — areas that are often treated separately but are here integrated into the same curriculum. Structure revolves around three progressively complex case studies spread across the first three semesters, each one applying theoretical knowledge from the parallel courses to a practical scenario. The fourth semester is dedicated to the Master's thesis, ideally on a topic connected to industry. Intakes begin on 1 October and 1 April each year. Students who suit this programme are those with undergraduate backgrounds in computer science, data science, information technology, artificial intelligence, data analysis, mathematics, or business informatics, and who want a qualification that covers both technical implementation and the broader business and ethical context of data work. SRH University delivers this programme at its Heidelberg campus, with additional locations in Hamburg, Fürth, and Munich.
