Applied Physics is a master's degree program at Cracow University of Technology, based in Kraków, Poland, running three semesters and taught in English. The program, offered with a specialization in Computer Modeling, is designed to give graduates a strong foundation for using the tools of mathematics, physics, and computer science, along with the knowledge and skills needed to model physical, technological, economic, biological, and other processes. Students develop competences that include modeling natural phenomena in science and technology using computer applications, the basics of symbolic computation, computer graphics and visualization, computer-controlled measurement stations for research and industry, and modern information technologies applied in physics, technology, and business, such as object-oriented and mobile programming techniques and algorithms for optimization tasks and engineering calculations. The program also covers techniques used in modern measurement systems across science, medicine, industry, and everyday life, situating physics as a foundation for other sciences and addressing problems in modern, interdisciplinary physics. On completing the degree, graduates are described as prepared either for PhD studies or for a professional career in science, industry, or finance, working in research laboratories or as programmers, software testers, computer network administrators, web or computer graphic designers, or data analysts. Physics training of this kind is also sought by banks and other financial institutions for quantitative roles. Applicants need a BSc in Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field such as mathematics, natural science, or technical studies, along with a high GPA from their bachelor's studies. Graduates of faculties other than Physics or Technical fields have their Diploma Supplement or index assessed by the Faculty's Recruitment Commission, which checks that at least 60 percent of the hours of basic and directional subjects match the results expected from first-degree technical physics studies. Required documents are listed on the faculty's website.
