About Bachelor in Architecture with Foundation BA Honours

The programme runs over four years. A one-year foundation introduces basic design tools and spatial thinking, followed by three years of honours study. Each year is organised around small studio groups – 21 groups in total – and the curriculum shifts from exploratory projects in year 1 to more specialised research and professional practice in the later years, with an optional placement year between years 2 and 3.

Week by week students work in open-plan studios, attend lectures, and use the Creative and Advanced Technologies Laboratory for digital modelling. In the second year they complete the Site Diary module, which involves construction site visits, while the third year includes a Professional Studies module that can incorporate a two-week industry placement. Field trips, both local and international, supplement studio work.

The course is aimed at applicants who have achieved at least CCC at A-level (or equivalent 96 UCAS points), T-levels, IB (96 points), BTEC Extended Diploma (MMM), BTEC Diploma (DD) or Access courses. Candidates should have a portfolio demonstrating design interest and meet the university’s English language standards.
