Architecture studies the design, planning, and construction of buildings and the built environment, combining artistic and technical skill. Students learn design principles, architectural history, structural systems, and building technology, developing the ability to translate ideas into functional and aesthetically considered spaces. Studio-based coursework typically forms the core of the program, supplemented by courses in materials, construction methods, urban planning, and computer-aided design tools used throughout the profession. Graduates work as architects, urban designers, and construction project consultants, and many pursue licensure and further graduate study to practice independently. This bachelor's program is taught in English over 4 years at Trakya University in Edirne, Turkey. English-medium instruction gives students access to international design literature, software documentation, and professional standards used across the architecture field. Edirne, a historic city near Turkey's borders with Greece and Bulgaria, offers students a rich built environment of historic architecture alongside contemporary development to study. Across the four years, students typically progress from foundational design studios toward more complex, independent design projects, often concluding with a capstone design thesis. The program suits students who combine creative and technical interests and want to shape physical spaces.
