Interior Architecture focuses on the design of indoor spaces, addressing how layout, materials, lighting, and furnishings shape how people use and experience buildings. Students study design theory, spatial planning, technical drawing, materials and construction methods, and the history of architecture and design, alongside studio courses where they develop and present design projects. Computer-aided design software is typically introduced early and used throughout the program for drafting, modeling, and visualization. The discipline sits between architecture, art, and engineering, requiring both creative vision and technical understanding of structures, building codes, and systems such as lighting and climate control. Coursework often progresses from smaller residential design projects to larger and more complex commercial or public space assignments as students advance through the program. This program is offered at Yeditepe University in Istanbul, Turkey, and is taught in English, supporting students who aim to work internationally or collaborate with global design firms. It is a 4 year bachelor program combining studio-based design work with theoretical and technical coursework. Istanbul's architectural heritage, spanning multiple historical periods, provides a rich context for studying how interior spaces evolve alongside building traditions. Graduates typically pursue careers as interior designers, design consultants, or work within architecture firms, furniture design companies, or corporate design departments, with some continuing into graduate study in architecture or design-related fields.
