How do we translate physical materials into functional art and capture the evolving narratives of cultural identity through creative practice? The Art, Architecture and Design provision at London Metropolitan University serves as a hub for hands-on, specialist education, bridging the gap between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary creative inquiry.

This collection of short courses is designed for practitioners, enthusiasts, and lifelong learners seeking to refine their skills in a professional studio environment. Whether you are looking to master the technical precision of furniture making or engage with the literary landscapes of cultural history, these programmes offer a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in focused study without the commitment of a full degree.

The Cass Experience

Drawing on the legacy and facilities of The Cass, these courses emphasize:

• Technical Mastery: Intensive training in furniture and upholstery, including restoration, conservation, and complex finishing techniques.
• Critical Engagement: Academic exploration of humanities and literature, such as the long-standing Irish Writers in London Summer School.
• Community-Led Learning: A collaborative atmosphere that encourages the exchange of ideas between experienced practitioners and those new to the field.

By engaging with these specialized modules, you gain access to the resources and academic rigor associated with one of London's most historic creative institutions, providing a refined space to develop your personal and professional portfolio.
