Bachelor in Artificial Intelligence BSc

Artificial Intelligence at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg is a six-semester Bachelor of Science programme delivered entirely in English and available in both full-time and part-time formats. Compulsory modules cover the three foundational areas of computer science, mathematics, and artificial intelligence. Students then extend their knowledge through elective modules in application domain fundamentals, specific AI topics, an AI seminar, and an AI project that puts theoretical knowledge into practice. A free-choice component allows additional qualifications from the wider FAU course catalogue. The programme spans a range of AI applications and research areas: coursework can include machine learning, large language models, deep learning, robotics, bioinformatics, and image analysis, among others. Lab sessions and research groups give students direct exposure to applied project work. There is no numerus clausus, but all applicants must pass a qualification assessment procedure that includes an online test in English covering mathematics and problem-solving. Graduates are well prepared for a Master's degree or for careers as data scientists or software developers in the software industry, in data-driven technology companies, and in other sectors where AI methods are applied. FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg hosts this programme in Erlangen, with the Bachelor's thesis written in English.
