Established by the Kepler Center for Astro and Particle Physics, this four-semester Master's programme connects the disciplines of particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology. The Kepler Center brings together three institutes within the Physics Department at the University of Tübingen: the Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Physical Institute, and the Institute for Theoretical Physics. Research conducted within the center spans astronomy and astrophysics, astroparticle physics, and particle physics, with a focus on the origin, structure, and evolution of the universe and the behaviour of elementary particles under extreme conditions. The programme follows a two-year modular structure and is open to entry in both the winter and summer semesters. In the first year, students complete 60 ECTS credits through lectures, seminars, and lab work. All students take two introductory modules in Astronomy and Astrophysics and Particle Physics in the first semester, which form a shared foundation. In the second semester, students select from a range of elective topics. The second year is devoted to original research within the Kepler Center, culminating in a Master's thesis worth 30 credits alongside 24 credits for research-oriented skills. The programme is well suited to students with a strong background in physics who want to pursue research at the intersection of observational astronomy and fundamental particle physics. The Kepler Center also runs a coordinated PhD programme, providing a pathway for those who wish to continue into doctoral research.
