At the University of Surrey, we have been at the forefront of the space revolution since pioneering sophisticated ‘micro-satellites’ in the 1980s. Our long-standing commitment to the sector is evidenced by our ability to develop, build, and operate complete space missions—from initial concepts and hardware manufacturing to testing and in-orbit operations managed through our own ground station.

Integrated Industrial Partnerships

This programme is deeply embedded within the UK’s industrial space sector, benefiting from strategic partnerships with industry giants such as Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) and Airbus. Students gain a unique, hands-on perspective by working in an environment that bridges the gap between academic theory and real-world mission execution. Whether you are interested in satellite communications, Earth observation, space exploration, or the burgeoning field of space tourism, this degree provides the multidisciplinary expertise required to design, build, and operate advanced space systems.

We prepare graduates for the future by integrating artificial intelligence into our curriculum, fostering the digital skills, confidence, and creativity that are highly prized by employers in the global space industry.
