About Automation and Electronics

Each week you will engage in an online laboratory where you develop C programmes for the PC, program 8-bit microcontrollers using both C and assembly language, and construct and test electronic circuits that incorporate sensors and actuators. Lectures introduce the underlying theory, while weekly assignments require you to design schematics, write and debug code, and produce concise reports. A final integrated project brings together programming and hardware skills.

The programme is aimed at graduates, technicians or engineers who already hold a diploma or degree in engineering, physics, computer science or a related discipline and who wish to specialise in automation and electronics. Candidates should be comfortable with basic mathematics and have some experience of working with computers.

The curriculum comprises twelve mandatory modules totalling 35 credits, delivered over two semesters. Core modules include C Programming 101, Instrumentation 1 and 2, Microcontroller Architecture, Embedded Programming 201, and Microcontroller Interfacing. Each module carries five credits and includes practical laboratory work. The programme concludes with Introduction to Engineering Mathematics, which prepares students for degree-level study or professional roles in automation, mechatronics and instrumentation.
