The Bachelor of Arts offered by De Montfort University in Dubai is an English-medium undergraduate degree accredited by the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation. A Bachelor of Arts typically provides a broad grounding in humanities and social science disciplines, encouraging students to develop critical thinking, research and communication skills that apply across many professional fields. Depending on the specialization chosen, coursework in a Bachelor of Arts program may draw on subjects such as literature, history, media, communication, cultural studies, languages or the social sciences, with an emphasis on reading closely, constructing arguments and analyzing texts, events or social phenomena from multiple perspectives. Students are usually asked to complete essays, presentations, group discussions and research projects that build their ability to gather evidence, evaluate sources and present reasoned conclusions in writing and speech. Many arts degrees also incorporate elective modules, allowing students to tailor part of their studies toward areas of personal or career interest while still meeting core requirements in analytical and communication skills. Because of this breadth, graduates of Bachelor of Arts programs go on to a wide variety of careers, including roles in media, marketing, public relations, publishing, education, government and the non-profit sector, as well as further postgraduate study in a chosen specialization. The flexibility of an arts education is often valued by employers seeking candidates who can write clearly, think critically and adapt to varied tasks. Located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the program is set within an international city that hosts a large expatriate population and a diverse business and cultural landscape, offering students an environment in which to apply humanities and communication skills in a global setting while completing their studies entirely in English.
