Bachelor in BEng Energy Systems Engineering

Cham, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The BEng in Energy Systems Engineering at Deggendorf Institute of Technology prepares students to work on the transition from fossil to renewable energy sources. The programme covers technical and economic aspects of energy systems, including power generation, conversion, transport, usage, and storage. Students gain expertise in the supply, integration, and storage of energy systems, with the capacity to contribute to smart power grid development and decentralisation of energy infrastructure. The programme runs over 7 semesters, starting in the winter semester. The first two semesters cover foundational science and engineering subjects including mathematics, physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, and informatics, alongside language courses and intercultural competences. Semesters three and four introduce applied subjects such as energy technology, measurement and control engineering, renewable energies, sustainability, and plant engineering. Semester five is an internship. Semesters six and seven cover power grid technologies, energy storage, smart systems, grid management, site planning, and GIS, alongside compulsory elective courses from a pool that includes energy economics, process engineering, strategic planning, and safety and security in energy systems. The programme concludes with the Bachelor's thesis and Bachelor's seminar. The programme is offered at Deggendorf Institute of Technology at the Pfarrkirchen campus in Pfarrkirchen, Germany.
