Each week you will spend time in purpose-built laboratories and computer suites, carrying out experiments on mass and energy balances, running simulations of process units and developing small-scale plant designs. You will also attend lectures that link theory to real-world applications, and take part in group projects that mimic professional engineering practice.

The programme suits students who have achieved good results in mathematics and chemistry at secondary level and who wish to pursue a career in the process industries, eventually progressing towards Chartered Engineer status. The BEng (Hons) runs for three to four years; the first year builds a solid foundation in chemistry, engineering professionalism and mathematics, after which you move on to increasingly specialised modules and optional projects.
