Graduates go on to work on handling the design, development, optimisation, and operation of mechanical parts and systems. This BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering and Energy Engineering is a four-year degree that includes a Diploma in Industrial Training (DIT) and covers specialist energy topics, environmental impact assessment and management, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics. Students learn to engineer solutions that are environmentally, financially, and socially sustainable, such as designing turbines to generate electricity from geothermal or nuclear sources, and creating heat pumps to replace gas boilers for a more efficient alternative.
