Industrial Biotechnology is a bachelor's degree program taught entirely in English at Lodz University of Technology in Łódź, Poland, carried out by the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences, running for 3.5 years with yearly tuition of 16000.0 PLN. The program integrates biological and technical sciences to make use of enzymes, organisms, and cells in producing added-value products, and it is aimed at people interested in using biological systems, living organisms, and enzymes to create or modify products or processes. While learning about the molecular mechanisms that regulate processes within living organisms and their interactions with the environment, students work toward designing ecological bio-products, generating bioenergy, and developing sustainable processes for the food, feed, chemical, pharmaceutical, energy, and environmental industries. The interdisciplinary curriculum is described as well received by employers in the life-science sector, giving students a base for defining their interests and making informed decisions about further professional development. Core subjects include biochemistry, microbiology, genes and genome, molecular biology, genetic engineering, bioinformatics, industrial engineering, biochemical engineering, biotechnological equipment, fermentation processes, products of modern biotechnology, industrial and environmental biotechnology, fundamentals of immunochemistry, and basics of marketing. Students can specialize in either Fermentation Technology and Technical Microbiology or Molecular Biotechnology and Technical Biochemistry. Industrial biotechnology as a field applies biological processes at industrial scale, connecting laboratory science to manufacturing and process engineering. Graduates typically move into production and process roles within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and food companies, quality control and regulatory positions, or further study at the master's level in biotechnology or a related discipline.
