This PhD project, centres on developing a new high-strength cladding system to protect buildings and their inhabitants from explosive events, supervised by Dr Laurie Clough and Dr Nikos Nanos. The work includes investigating aluminium secondary elements through impact studies and high strain rate testing, numerical modelling of aluminium elements under blast loads, and experimental testing to predict and mitigate blast impacts. You will be based at the School of Civil Engineering & Surveying and the project duration is either 3 years full-time or 6 years part-time, starting in October, February, or April.
