Graduates of this programme typically go on to serve as essential members of surgical teams, working autonomously and collaboratively within operating theatres, critical care units, and emergency departments. As registered Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), they are uniquely positioned to manage the anaesthetic, surgical, and post-anaesthetic care of patients, acting as advocates for safe, person-centred practice. This degree is designed for individuals who thrive in high-pressure, clinical environments and are committed to improving patient outcomes through technical precision and compassionate care.

Distinctive features of the Sheffield Hallam experience include:

• Immersive Clinical Simulation: Students refine their skills within state-of-the-art anatomy labs and simulated operating theatres, ensuring they are prepared for the realities of the perioperative environment before stepping into a live clinical setting.
• Interprofessional Focus: You will study alongside other health and social care professionals, fostering a holistic understanding of patient pathways and modern integrated care systems.
• Practice-Led Curriculum: With a curriculum designed by active HCPC-registered practitioners, the programme bridges the gap between complex medical theory and daily clinical application.
• Global Perspective: Beyond the hospital floor, students engage with industry leaders, such as surgical instrument manufacturers, to understand the entire life cycle of the tools and technologies used in modern surgery.
