Graduates of this programme go on to pursue vital careers as registered social workers, supporting children, families, the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and those experiencing mental health or substance abuse challenges. By focusing on human rights and social justice, the degree prepares practitioners to navigate complex legal and ethical landscapes while providing direct, life-changing support in hospitals, schools, residential facilities, and community fieldwork teams.

This extended degree is specifically designed for students who may not meet the standard entry requirements for direct undergraduate admission. It incorporates a dedicated foundation year that bridges the gap into higher education, providing a comprehensive grounding in the theoretical and practical debates surrounding health, education, and social care before progressing to the core social work curriculum.

Integrated Professional Practice

Distinctive to this programme is its heavy emphasis on practice-based learning. Students undertake 170 days of assessed placements across their studies, ensuring they gain hands-on experience in at least two different clinical or social settings. Taught by academics with extensive field experience, the course maintains strong ties with local healthcare and social care organisations, ensuring that every module—from policy and law to safeguarding and leadership—is directly applicable to real-world professional practice.
