At the University of Plymouth, sociology is taught as a lens for examining the intricate dynamics of power, diversity, and social difference that shape our collective human experience. By engaging with core themes such as health, media, crime, poverty, and gender, you will move beyond abstract theory to confront the real-world structures that influence everyday life. The curriculum is distinguished by an emphasis on the 'sociological imagination,' encouraging students to connect their personal experiences to broader societal shifts.
